Aeroflot is the most popular Russian carrier, with a huge number of people using its services every day. Like all other airlines, Aeroflot has its own requirements for the carriage of hand luggage and baggage on board. What are these rules and how should they be followed in order to avoid problems during landing?

Carry-on baggage

Hand luggage refers to things that a passenger takes with him to the cabin of the aircraft. Aeroflot's rules for its carriage include the following conditions: Economy class passengers can carry 10 kilograms of hand luggage, and business class passengers - no more than 15 kilograms. Its maximum permissible dimensions (the sum of length, width and height) should not exceed 115 centimeters. Also, the carrier allows you to take an umbrella, a folder for papers, a small handbag or briefcase, a cane, outerwear, a bouquet of flowers, a video camera, a camera and a laptop into the cabin.

Children from 2 to 12 years old are allowed to carry the same amount of hand luggage as adults.

In addition, Aeroflot's rules allow the carriage of printed materials for reading during the flight, baby food for feeding a baby in flight, a cradle for transporting a baby, a dress or suit in a case, a mobile phone, and Duty Free purchases in the cabin. The rest of Aeroflot's carry-on baggage requirements are no different from those of other carrier airlines.

Baggage

Baggage is considered to be a bag or suitcase that the passenger returns at check-in at the airport. Its free transportation on Aeroflot aircraft is standardized as follows: an economy class passenger with 1 piece of baggage can carry baggage weighing up to 23 kilograms. A Premium Comfort or Premium Economy class passenger with 2 seats can carry 2 pieces of baggage weighing up to 23 kilograms each. Two seats in Business Class allow you to increase the weight of each baggage up to 32 kilograms.

Previously, Aeroflot charged only for excess weight, but a couple of years ago, the carrier introduced a payment system based on the number of pieces of baggage.

Snowboards and skis are classified as excess baggage, but during the ski season Aeroflot allows them to be transported completely free of charge - as an addition to the basic baggage allowance. During this period, the passengers of the carrier are allowed to take with them luggage and special equipment in the form of skis, poles, boots and a helmet (in a case) free of charge.

Exceptions to Economy Class baggage include flights between destinations in the Middle East and the United States of America (excluding Miami), Asia (excluding Bishkek, Russia, Samarkand, Ashgabat, Khujand and Dushanbe), and India and Africa. Economy class passengers of these flights are allowed to take 2 pieces of baggage, 23 kg each.
