Step 1

To obtain a visitor, work or business visa, you will need a valid invitation with a guarantee that the German side will bear all the costs associated with your residence in this country. So if you want to visit Germany, arrange in advance with your friends, relatives, employer or business partner about the invitation.

Step 2

Please note: the invitation must indicate not only the purpose and duration of the trip, but also the details of both parties. Therefore, make sure that the person who invites you can correctly draw up all the documents. It is best if you send an apostilled copy of your passport or foreign passport to Germany in advance.

Step 3

Find out which consular district your region belongs to. You can find out by contacting one of the pages of the German Embassy in Russia:

Step 4

If you are planning to visit Germany on a guest or business visit for a period not exceeding 90 days, then it will be quite enough for you to apply for a Schengen visa. However, before collecting the documents, call the consular secretariat and make an appointment, indicating your phone number, zip code, home address, Russian and foreign passport details.

Step 5

At the consulate, you will need to submit the following documents along with the application form:

- international passport (and, if available, the previous passport);

- certified copies of all significant pages of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation;

- 2 color photographs 3, 5 × 4, 5;

- bank and / or credit card account statements for the last six months, issued a maximum of 2 weeks before the application, or travel checks;

- a certified copy of the marriage certificate / divorce;

- certified copies of certificates of ownership of the property;

- a certificate from work indicating the size of the salary and the position held.

The booked ticket is not required to be presented as a document.

Step 6

If you are traveling with elderly relatives, they will need to present a certified copy of the pension certificate indicating the amount of the benefit. You can take a child with you on a trip only with the consent of both parents, including in the package of documents and a certified copy of his birth certificate.

Step 7

For a business trip and travel to Germany for more than 90 days, you will need a national visa. To get it, you must first contact the consulate and fill out a form. Since the questionnaire will subsequently be forwarded to the German office for foreigners, it must be completed in German. In case of a positive decision, submit to the consulate a similar package of documents, as well as an invitation from the employer.
