The city is small, it is home to a little more than 40 thousand inhabitants, but many attractions have been preserved in it. Where is Kronstadt located?

Kronstadt is a walled city and a port city, built at about the same time as St. Petersburg was founded, that is, at the beginning of the 18th century. It is located on Kotlin Island, the largest island in the Gulf of Finland, about thirty kilometers from St. Petersburg. Kronstadt also includes several nearby small islands. The city is part of St. Petersburg and is the only settlement of the Kronstadt district.

Before the construction of the ring road or ring road, which passes through protective structures located in the Gulf of Finland, it was possible to get to Kronstadt only by water. Today buses and minibuses go there.

How to get to Kronstadt?

In fact, today it is much easier to get there by land transport, since meteors, ferries and boats no longer go to the island as public transport. There is one bus from St. Petersburg to Kronstadt, number 101, its final stop is at the Staraya Derevnya metro station. Route 101a also departs from the Old Village, but does not reach the center of Kronstadt. You can get to the fort city by bus from Lomonosov on route 175 or from Sestroretsk on route 125. The fare is about 50 rubles, the intervals between departures are about fifteen minutes.

Minibuses to Kronstadt run just as often: No. 405 departs from the Chornaya Rechka metro station, and No. 407 goes from the Prospekt Prosvescheniya metro station. The fare is more expensive - 65 rubles, but a fixed-route taxi reaches its destination faster.

You can get to Kronstadt from the center of St. Petersburg by sightseeing bus, at the same time it will be possible to learn the history of the city, get information about the sights and easily get back. But the cost of such a trip will be significantly higher - about a thousand rubles.

The easiest way to get to Kronstadt by personal transport is if you are leaving from the northern part of the city, you need to get to the ring road from Savushkina Street and Primorskoe Highway. From the ring road on Kotlin Island, the road turns to the Kronstadt highway, then you need to go along Vosstaniya and Romal streets to get to the central Yakornaya square.

For some time, water minibuses went to Kronstadt, but now their route passes only between Arsenalnaya embankment, Staraya Derevnya and the Bronze Horseman.
