Yalta is a resort city in the southern part of Crimea, which until recently was part of Ukraine, but now Crimea is one of the regions of the Russian Federation. There is actually the city of Yalta and the urban district of Yalta (Yalta City Council) - this coastline is more than 70 km long. Big Yalta starts from Foros in the west and stretches to Krasnokamenka in the east.

By train to Yalta

Unfortunately, there is no direct railway connection with Yalta, because the city is located behind the mountains on the Black Sea coast. But, by train you can get to the nearest stations on the railway - this is Simferopol or Sevastopol. Tickets must be bought in advance, the start of ticket sales is 45 days before the departure date, and tickets must be taken to one of these stations.

Trains from Moscow

By train from Moscow, it takes about 22-24 hours. From the Kursk railway station in Moscow, there are two to three trains per day. The cost of a reserved seat is from 2,800 to 3,300 rubles, a compartment - from 4,900 to 5,800, a suite - from 10,500 to 12,000 rubles.

The following trains run from Moscow: Moscow - Sevastopol, Moscow - Simferopol. In addition, you can travel from Moscow to Krasnodar, from there, approximately every 2 hours, trains run to Simferopol.

Train routes

Currently (2014) trains run to Crimea in two ways: through Ukraine and via a ferry in the Kerch Strait. Four passenger trains run from Moscow to Simferopol, Sevastopol and Kerch through the territory of Ukraine. These trains were formed by the Crimean Railway, which is structurally not part of the Russian Railways company. These are trains N17 / 18 Sevastopol-Moscow-Sevastopol, N68 / 67 and N40 / 39 Simferopol-Moscow-Simferopol, as well as train N98 / 97 Kerch-Moscow-Kerch. They will proceed to the peninsula in transit.

In addition, trains formed by the railways of Ukraine will run between Crimea and several Russian cities. But the trains of the Federal Passenger Company (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) do not regularly run on the peninsula.

The ferry is used by trains that are formed in Russia. They go through Krasnodar, then to the Kerch Strait, where the cars are sealed, loaded onto the ferry, and the passengers are nearby. Then in Kerch the train continues its journey along the rails.

Single ticket to Crimea

There is another interesting option on how to get to Yalta - a single ticket to the Crimea. By train you follow to Anapa or Krasnodar stations. Further, communication was organized between the stations of Anapa, Krasnodar and the settlements of the Crimea using road and sea transport.

To travel to Crimea at the ticket office, passengers are issued a ticket for transportation by rail, a boarding pass and a ticket for obtaining services for travel by sea and road transport (ferry and bus). The issuance of tickets is possible only with the simultaneous issuance of a travel document for long-distance trains and ends 24 hours before the departure of the train.

All flights (train-bus-ferry-bus) are docked by departure time. Buses are served at the place and time of departure of connecting flights of ferries and trains. A boarding pass to Simferopol or Yalta costs 750 rubles. This cost is added to the train ticket at the time of purchase at the box office. The road to the ferry from Krasnodar is 2.5 hours. If you go from Anapa - three times less.

Travel from Simferopol to Yalta

The first option is by trolleybus. Such a trip would be very cheap. Trolleybuses run on schedule every 15-20 minutes. During the trip, which is like a separate tourist route, you can observe how the surrounding landscape is gradually changing, mountains and the sea appear.

The trolleybus stop is next to the train station, buy a ticket and wait 5-10 minutes until the next trolleybus arrives.

The next option is the most optimal - a minibus. The fare to Yalta is 2 times more expensive, but the speed is exactly the same faster. These minibuses are all foreign-made, very comfortable and spacious. Boarding minibuses is carried out right there at the station.

The last option is, of course, a taxi. It is comfortable, it is very expensive, and you will arrive only 10-15 minutes before the minibus.
