When traveling abroad, Russian citizens are required to have with them not only the foreign passport obtained from the FMS, but also some other documents. You should not be limited to one, albeit the most important document.

Foreign and Russian passports

A foreign passport is the most important and main document, in the absence of which you will simply not be released abroad by customs officers of both Russia and other countries.

Make sure that when leaving for another country, at least 3-4 months remain before the expiration date of this document, as well as obtaining the necessary visas, if they are needed. Without a visa, you will not be able to enter the territory of the European Union and many other states. On the contrary, if you want to visit Brazil or Israel and a number of other countries, this permission from the embassy of the receiving party is not required.

Some Russian citizens are still mistaken, believing that they cannot take their internal passport with them on a trip. This myth has remained since the times of the USSR, when the document was among the prohibited for export. After the 90s of the last century, this restriction was removed.

A Russian passport can become for you a reliable pass to the territory of the embassy of our country, in case of any problems or if you lose your passport.

It should not be forgotten that with an internal passport, Russians can visit countries friendly to Russia - Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan, without presenting a second document at all.

On specialized sites, avid travelers give such a recommendation - it is better to take a Russian passport with you if you are going abroad with a new foreign document of a non-biometric sample, in which no notes have yet been affixed. According to tourists, Russian customs officials very often ask for an internal document. The reasons for this fact can only be guessed at.

Other documents

It is worth taking care of the availability of travel insurance even if you travel to visa-free Montenegro, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt and Tunisia. It can be obtained from almost any insurance company, and for a relatively low price. For example, the cost of insurance coverage for 5-6 days in Moscow costs approximately 450-550 rubles. This precautionary measure can save you from unpleasant surprises.

By presenting insurance at a hospital in another country, of course, you will pay for the services rendered there, but after returning home, the insurance company will compensate your expenses.

When obtaining a visa to many countries, insurance is mandatory, and if you enter, for example, Turkey, the customs office will take you a fee, which includes, among other things, insurance. Do not forget that if you are going to carry out active holidays (diving or skiing), the cost of insurance will be significantly increased, as the risk of injury increases.

While traveling, it is worth keeping copies of train, plane or bus tickets on which you entered the territory of another country. They can help in case of questions from customs officials.
