Vladikavkaz is the capital of North Ossetia - Alania. Until 1990, this settlement was called Ordzhonikidze, but after the collapse of the USSR, its historical name was returned to it. In 2007, Vladikavkaz was awarded the title "City of Military Glory"; now it is one of the largest industrial centers of the Russian Federation.
The easiest way to get to Vladikavkaz is by train. The railway line passing through this settlement is a dead-end and is a branch from a large junction located in Beslan. The planes of the first airline fly to the capital's Domodedovo airport twice a day, with the exception of Thursday and Sunday. The second company serves the Vladikavkaz - Moscow (Vnukovo) flight on a daily basis. Orenburg Lines, like S7 Airlines, organize flights to Domodedovo. Owners of their own vehicles can easily get to Vladikavkaz. The following highways pass through this settlement: "Р297" ("Transkam"), connecting Russia and South Ossetia; "A301" ("Georgian Military Road"), which connects Beslan with the Georgian border; "R295" - "Nalchik - Vladikavkaz", as well as "R296" - "Mozdok - Vladikavkaz".
Among other things, in the capital of North Ossetia - Alania, there are two bus stations operating at once, serving intercity bus communication. Bus station No. 1 leaves daily flights to Anapa, Astrakhan, Makhachkala, Tskhinval, Sukhum, Gelendzhik, Kislovodsk, Mineralnye Vody, Moscow, Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don and Stavropol. The second bus station serves intercity flights between Vladikavkaz and Grozny, Makhachkala, Derbent, Khasavyurt, Sleptsovskaya and Mozdok.
