It is very difficult to imagine that in a small nondescript town there may be an entrance to another, mysterious and magical world. However, it does exist. In the central part of Ukraine, in the small town of Uman, there is a beautiful park, a monument of the eighteenth century, which contains over three thousand species of trees, herbs and flowers. In 1802, the magnificent garden was donated to the beloved Greek wife of the Polish magnate Stanislav Potocki. In honor of her, the park is named "Sofievsky".

Instructions

Step 1

Sofievsky Park, or Sofievka, as our contemporaries often call it, is located along the banks of the Kamenka River, repeating all its bends. Gazebos and pavilions were built in the garden, artificial pools, ponds and waterfalls were created. The landscape is complemented by man-made rocks and grottoes. The architecture of the park is in the antique style; Greek sculptures were even brought by the order of the designer Metzel. In the open spaces of Sofiyivka, panoramas of the most beautiful parks in Europe were skillfully recreated.

Step 2

Getting to the park is not so difficult: it is within transport accessibility. Usually people go to Uman by cars or fixed-route taxis, the interval of which is 15 minutes. You can also use the services of a regular taxi, but the price will have to be negotiated individually.

Step 3

You can get to the Cherkasy region by train, and from the station you can move independently on a regular bus. Bus number 6, number 11 goes to Uman. Travel time is about 35 minutes. Stop exactly opposite the central entrance, where you can buy an entrance ticket for 25 hryvnia.

Step 4

During the first half of the nineteenth century, the garden changed its appearance, new buildings appeared, the access road was improved. The road to Sofievsky Park was built in 1838. Sadovaya Street connected Uman with Sofiyivka. Gradually, it acquired its current appearance. The road leads from the main entrance deep into the garden. To the right of the entrance is Little Switzerland, decorated with a man-made Lake Geneva. The road continues to the Flora pavilion, built after the death of the Pototskikhs. The source "Silver Keys" is located here.

Step 5

A Venetian Bridge leads onto a trail to Lake Superior, overlooking a stone obelisk and Bellevue Terrace. Another path goes down to the Lower Lake and allows you to admire the "Serpent" fountain gushing from the middle of the lake. Here, on the slope of the mountain, there is another source - Hippocrene, dedicated to the Muses and Apollo. A bridge was built across the lake leading to Ploschad Ploschad. The square is framed by wooden benches, and in the center there is a swimming pool with a huge pithos in the middle. There are also stone grottoes and a three-stage waterfall. Further, the path lies through the Tempe Valley, the Champs Elysees and the magnificent rose garden to the English Park, where a whole amphitheater is built. The tour of the garden ends with a walk along the Terrace of the Muses to the Flora Pavilion.

Step 6

On the way to the Sophia Gardens, not only idle tourists follow, but also scientists. The Research Institute of Dendrology and Horticulture is located in Sofievka, actively cooperating with colleagues from Poland, the Czech Republic and China. Couples in love from all regions of Ukraine often flock to Uman, since it is customary to arrange field registrations in Sofievsky Park. Here, imbued with the romantic atmosphere of the beautiful Sofiyivka, the newlyweds begin their journey hand in hand along the paths of the park and along the road of Life.
