Arkaim opening

In the summer of 1987, a sensational discovery took place, namely, Arkaim was found, an urban settlement of the Middle Bronze Age, whose age dates back to the III-II millennium BC, i.e. it is older than the Egyptian pyramids.

Arkaim was discovered in the Chelyabinsk region in the village of Aleksandrovsky, Kizilsky district. Moving 2 km south-east of the village, you can get to the cape, located on a small hill. This is Arkaim.

The cape was formed due to the confluence of the Utyaganka and Bolshaya Karaganka rivers. In Soviet times, they wanted to build a reservoir here for an irrigation system, because this area is quite arid (steppe), and in those years, promising steppes were systematically provided with reservoirs. According to the rules in force at that time, all building areas were surveyed by archaeologists. This is how a routine routine examination led to the discovery of Arkaim. It was discovered by archaeologists V. Mosin and S. Botalov. Since 1992, this place has become a historical and archaeological reserve.

What is Arkaim

When looking at Arkaim from a bird's eye view, you can see two clearly outlined circles on a flat steppe surface. The larger one represents the outlines of the city, the smaller one represents the main street. Both are fenced in. In the outer circle there are 4 entrances, in the inner one - only 1. Various buildings in the ancient city were located both inside the large circle and in the perimeter of the small one.

It seems that the civilization that created the structure had more than good knowledge in such areas as mathematics, geometry, astronomy. After all, after conducting some research on the territory of Arkaim, astronomers announced that this place is an observatory.

Arkaim is called the Russian Stonehenge due to the surprisingly accurate size matches of some important elements of geometry. In addition, both buildings are located almost at the same geographical latitude, in areas with similar reliefs.

Historical value of Arkaim

The value of Arkaim as a historical site is undoubtedly enormous. There are no such monuments in the world, even in the same degree of preservation.

According to some archaeologists, Arkaim was a large city surrounded by a wall along a circular perimeter. The main building materials are logs and bricks from dried clay. The dwellings adjoined the walls with a pediment and went in several rows. There is a round square in the center of the city. In Arkaim there were a kind of apartments, workshops, warehouses, outbuildings and, of course, cemeteries.

In Arkaim there was a storm sewer, today people use almost the same. There was also a solid metallurgical production. People lived, worked, celebrated holidays, they had their own calendar.

For uncertain reasons, the city of Arkaim burned down.
