The most remarkable cultural monuments of the medieval period of Kazakhstan are, of course, religious buildings. And today they delight with their original architectural composition and the highest building art.

Of those that have survived to this day, mazars are of great interest. Translated, this word means "dwellings of the dead." Also, tourists are attracted by the mausoleums. The cult buildings of the Kazakhs are of a wide variety. The legendary Kozy Korpesh and Bayan-Slu mazars are among the unusual and original gravestones. This is one of the oldest monuments in Kazakhstan, which has survived to this day. Built of stone, the round yurt-shaped monument impresses with its unusual architecture. This building is considered a symbol of the immortality of the tragic and unhappy love of a young man and a girl.

The widest fame far beyond the borders of the country acquired two mausoleums, which were erected in the 11-12 centuries of our era. This is the mausoleum of Babaji-khatun and Aisha-bibi, located next to each other. They are a pearl of decorative, architectural and construction art, because they are intertwined with inimitable harmony, a combination of architectural motives and ornamental diction. Both mausoleums have cubic bases, and the design of the columns and walls is striking in its variety of ornaments.

In Kazakhstan there is a mausoleum of the well-known man Dzhuti - the eldest son of Genghis Khan himself. This cultural monument is located in a wide steppe in the north of the country. Compared to previous structures, this mausoleum is small in size, but with a high dome that rises above the endless steppe and looks powerful from one end of the horizon to the other.

There are a lot of mausoleums and mazars in the republic and visiting them is one of the amazing and informative types of tourism, because ancient monuments are a reminder of the ancient life of Kazakhs.
