In the last days of July 2012, information appeared in the news feeds about a law passed in Turkey that would restrict the possibilities of beach photographers. The reason for this step was an appeal to the court of one of the Turkish celebrities, outraged by the unauthorized appearance of her photographs in a local magazine.

According to media reports, a local celebrity, whose name is not mentioned in the news, has applied to the Izmir City Court. The girl was outraged by the posting on the pages of the magazine of her photos in a swimsuit, taken on the beach without her permission. She demanded that both the publication that published the images and the photographer who took the photographs be brought to justice. Initially, the authorities were not inclined to side with the victim. The court's decision was explained by the fact that the beach on which the photographs were taken is a public place where everyone is free to shoot without any restrictions. As a result, the accused were released in peace, and the lawyer of the victim, who was not satisfied with this decision, appealed to a higher court, which has the opportunity to review the validity and legality of the decision.

The Court of Cassation, where the appeal was filed, overturned the previous decision. Unauthorized photographing of a girl in an open swimsuit was ruled as an interference with her privacy. According to the information portal Haberturk.com, after the adoption of the law restricting photography on the beach, the magazine that published the pictures will have to pay a rather large fine. The information posted on this resource emphasizes that the new law protects not only the rights of celebrities, but also ordinary guests of Turkish resorts.

Turkey's adoption of a law banning unauthorized photography is not unprecedented. So, back in 2010, a ban on the use of cameras was introduced on the beaches of the Australian city of Perth, which drew criticism from the local media. It is not allowed to take pictures on the territory of the Egyptian women's beach "Al-Yashmak". Taking photographs of women without their knowledge on the beaches of the UAE is punishable by monetary fines.
