Cambodia as a vacation option is recommended for tourists who do not require an ideal infrastructure and an active nightlife. This country can be considered as a budget option, as prices are lower than in neighboring Thailand, and the climate and beaches are in no way inferior.
The Kingdom of Cambodia borders Thailand in the north, and its sea coast is washed by the same Gulf of Thailand as the coast of Thailand. But the length of the coast, excluding the bays, in a straight line from the extreme points from northwest to southeast, is only 200 kilometers. On this segment, there is only one full-fledged seaside resort with developed infrastructure - the city and the Sihanoukville airport. The two small towns of Koh Kong and Kampot, small villages on the coast and islands of the Gulf of Thailand, offer a resort getaway for nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts. Divers and tourists come to these places, preferring to spend most of their vacation on the beach.
The history of Cambodia, its famous ancient temple complexes, located in the interior of the country, are of great interest for exotic lovers, but these are excursion, not resort places.
Koh Kong
The northernmost resort in Cambodia, almost on the border with Thailand. The level of entertainment is average, several decent hotels, nightclubs, casinos. Good bus connections to the capital and Sihanoukville. There is a boat from Sihanoukville.
Sihanoukville
City, province of the same name, airport and main port of the country. The youngest and most developed resort. It was founded in the 50s, but due to foreign investment in the tourism and resort sector, it is rapidly developing.
The main attraction is well-equipped beaches, five-star hotels, diving centers. Everything for a civilized holiday of spoiled tourists with the best service. Ream National Park is located 20 kilometers from the city.
Koh Rong Island
A large island in the Gulf of Thailand near Sihanoukville. Several hotels, fishing villages and unspoiled nature. A place for those who want to relax from the hustle and bustle alone with nature. You can get there by private boat or speedboat from Sihanoukville.
Koh Dek Koul Island
A microscopic island close to Sihanoukville for a rich, secluded getaway. Five-star hotel with 12 rooms, a couple of restaurants and virgin nature.
Kep
Sometimes called Kep, or Keap, due to the ambiguity of the transcription of the Khmer self-name, a hundred years ago this city was a resting place for white colonialists. The best service of the time, perfect beaches, magnificent nature. It began to decline after the appearance of Sihanoukville, which attracted the elite. The civil war finally destroyed Kep, and only in the last decade have they begun to return to its former glory as a quiet elite place. Three kilometers from the coast is the Khao Tonsei island, to which boats go from Kaep. The resort will appeal to lovers of uncrowded recreation, with the possibility of diving, fishing and crab fishing.
Kampot
Located near Kep, about 30 kilometers to the northeast, in the Kampong Bai River Delta. The city can be used as a center for living, combining excursions to the Bokor National Park and a beach holiday in Kep. The quiet, sparsely populated and provincial town of Kampot is nothing interesting for a tourist, there is practically no nightlife.
The rest of the famous tourist cities of Cambodia are not resorts, and are recommended for a short sightseeing visit with a one-two-day excursion. The kingdom is located in the Krasnoyarsk time zone, with a difference of +4 hours to Moscow time.
There are no direct flights Moscow - Phnom Penh, depending on the airline, the transfer can be in Vietnam, China, Thailand, or in some other countries.
