Unlike neighboring India, Sri Lanka has not yet been thoroughly studied and is in demand by Russian travelers. But, even in spite of this circumstance, there are several ways to get from Moscow to the fertile island.

To Ceylon: round trip

There are 15 airports on the island with an area of about 65 thousand square meters, but only 3 have the ability and the appropriate status to receive international flights: Bandaranaike, Ratmalana and Kankesanturai.

Moreover, most of the international flights fall on Bandaranaike, which is located about 35 kilometers from the city of Colombo.

The remaining 12 airports operate in the mode of domestic traffic and are not empty at all - they are in great demand among tourists.

One of the interesting features of Sri Lanka is the "air taxi". Airplanes with 4 and 8 seats are convenient for moving around the island.

Although the legal status of the capital of Sri Lanka is assigned to the city of Kotte, some of the capital functions (including one of the main transport functions) are performed by the largest city of Ceylon, Colombo.

How many hours to fly from Moscow to Sri Lanka?

Since this tourist destination is just developing in Russia, none of the domestic airlines has a permanent direct flight to Sri Lanka (with the exception of Aeroflot, which periodically organizes charter flights for the winter period). But such services are provided by the local carrier - SriLankan Airlines. The flight on the long-haul Airbus-330 model lasts about 9 hours and will cost (in both directions) about 25 thousand rubles.

In addition to direct flights, you can get to Ceylon with transfers. Sri Lanka's international airports accept aircraft from Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Flydubai, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Cathay Pacific and others.

Most often, travelers make transfers in Dubai (OJSC), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Doha (Qatar) or Male (Maldives). Although with the help of Ceylon's second national carrier, Mihin Lanka, Indian cities such as Mumbai or Delhi can be made as a starting point.

The average travel time in the case of a convenient transit flight does not differ much from the time spent on a direct flight - it is quite possible to get to Colombo in 10-12 hours. At the same time, the cost for a round-trip ticket starts from about 22 thousand rubles.

True, there are routes that require up to two transfers. Most often, the first takes place in Europe (for example, in Berlin, Dusseldorf or Rome), and the second - in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, the total duration of the journey ranges from 20 to 40 hours, and the cost is kept at around 25-28 thousand rubles and above.

But no matter how ornate and lengthy the journey may turn out to be, it will be more than compensated for by the Ceylon hospitality and cordiality. Well, and, of course, tea.

By the way, Ceylon tea is in vain treated with such disdain. Most of the plantations are located in remote areas at high altitudes, and the tea collected on them has a wonderful aroma and taste.

After all, how many generations of already grown children were lucky enough not only to play the familiar box with an elephant, but also to taste its contents? And now - and visit Ceylon.
