We are all accustomed to the fact that we take documents, valuables, expensive equipment (laptops, tablets, phones), chargers, essentials in our hand luggage and go through customs control without any questions. But there are situations, for example, when all luggage consists only of hand luggage or a connecting flight, and you need to look good upon arrival. It is then that a frequently asked question arises among the fairer sex: is it possible to take a hairdryer in the hand luggage of an aircraft?

What is the concept of carry-on luggage?

First you need to figure out what is hand luggage? So, hand luggage is a special type of baggage, for which its own rules and norms of carriage are established, established by the aviation company, and which is allowed to be taken into the cabin of the airliner. That is, each aviation company has its own dimensions of hand luggage - size and weight, as well as a list of both permitted and prohibited items for transportation that a passenger can take on board the aircraft.

That it is absolutely forbidden to take on board the airliner

Some rules are strictly individual, but still, in most cases, the requirements of airline companies for baggage carried by passengers on board the airliner are similar. Namely, in all aviation companies, without exception, prohibited items for transportation include: weapons, explosives, liquefied gases. Also hazardous substances (radioactive, toxic, caustic). And, of course, sharp objects (corkscrew, scissors, folding knife, and so on). As you can see from the list, the hairdryer does not belong to a prohibited load, it is not sharp and not dangerous, moreover, it works on electricity and is harmless when turned off, which does not contradict safety measures. In addition, in many aviation companies, a hairdryer, a curling iron, and a hair straightener are often prescribed in the list of permitted items, in the paragraph of electronic devices allowed to be carried on board the aircraft. Based on the foregoing, you should not be afraid that the employees of the aviation company will have questions and that you will not pass the check because of the hairdryer or will be removed from you.

But, what should be remembered for sure, putting electrical appliances for hairstyles in carry-on luggage, it has a clear weight limit, and for every extra kilogram you can be fined. This is especially true for low-cost air carriers. Low-cost airlines are an exception. In addition, you should be prepared for the fact that you will be shown more close attention during inspection due to additional items in your carry-on baggage, after which you can safely board the airliner.
