What is Sochi famous for?

Sochi is a resort town in Russia, the pearl of the Black Sea coast, surrounded by coastal forests and mountains that protect it from the southern and northern winds. Sochi is the longest city in Europe (and the second in the world), its length is 148 km. The city's borders stretch along the Black Sea coast from the Caucasus Mountains themselves.

Sochi is the birthplace of Russian tea. For quite a long time, it was believed that Russia was not at all a suitable place for growing tea. And all these doubts were dispelled by the experienced tea grower Koshman. It was he who first planted a variety of tea here that can adapt to the local climate. This is how Russia got its own kind of tea with a unique and unrepeatable aroma.

Sochi is the only place in the Russian Federation where you can see palm trees. But not the "home" ones that stand on the windowsills, but real southern palms. Also, plants "unique" for the cold climate grow here - magnolia and eucalyptus. These beautiful trees have become the hallmark of the city. In addition, in Sochi you can taste feijoa, figs and medlar straight from the branch.

Sochi is also called the "Russian Riviera". This is due to the fact that the Russian resort is located in the same latitudes as the world famous resorts of Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo.

Sights of Sochi

But tourists come to Sochi not only to relax on the beach. This city is also famous for its numerous attractions, both historical, cultural and natural: underground caves and mountain canyons, reserves and relict forests, lakes and waterfalls, museums, summer cottages of famous people - the list goes on.

One of these attractions is the Sochi Arboretum. Here you can see plants and animals that were brought from different parts of the world. The territory of the arboretum is decorated with various sculptures and fountains.

In Sochi, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the top of Mount Akhun or visit the tall Orekhovsky waterfall, surrounded by numerous oaks and chestnuts. You can also visit the Tisosamshitovaya grove, famous for its observation platforms, from which magnificent landscapes open up.

You can visit the Sochi Art Museum or the Riviera Culture and Leisure Park. And you can go to any of the many cultural events, for example, "KVN" or "Kinotavr".

In general, you can talk about Sochi for a long time - it is better to visit this city once and see everything with your own eyes.
