Gega waterfall
The waterfall is located in the northern spurs of the Gagra ridge at an altitude of 530 meters above sea level. Its height is about 70 meters. The water in it is icy. Connoisseurs of Soviet cinema are aware of the fact that the scene of Holmes's fight with Professor Moriarty from the film "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson" was filmed against the background of this fabulous place. Only in the story it was the Reichenbach Falls. You can get to the Gega waterfall on the road to Lake Ritsa.
Lake Ritsa
Ritsa is a mountain lake located at an altitude of 950 m above sea level in the valley of the Lashipsa River, east of the Gagra ridge. This is a very famous and most popular scenic spot in Abkhazia. On the shore of the reservoir is the dacha of Stalin and Brezhnev.
The road to the lake is not too close, tiring, so tourists can relax here, have a snack, fish and eat trout. Particularly brave vacationers can swim in the icy water.
New Athos monastery
The New Athos Monastery is a male Orthodox monastery located at the foot of Mount Athos at an altitude of 75 meters above sea level. It was founded in 1875. The church complex beckons with its mystery, shrouded from all sides by greenery and the sea.
The entrance to the monastery is free, if you wish, you can take a picture, admire the interior, and pray. At the entrance sits a servant who gives out a skirt and a scarf.
New Athos cave
The New Athos Cave is an amazing miracle of natural architecture. The cave was discovered in 1961. Its volume is about 1 million cubic meters. The cave has 11 rooms, but tourists can admire only half of them. Music concerts are sometimes held in one of the halls - the acoustics are amazing here.
