Budapest is a real gem, unparalleled in the whole of Eastern Europe for the richness of architecture and beauty. Spreading along the banks of the Danube, the capital of Hungary every year receives a large number of tourists who are always delighted with what they see.

The city of Budapest appeared on the map relatively recently - after the merger of three cities: Buda, Pest and Obuda.

Each part of the city surprises with its dissimilarity: the streets of Old Buda, running along the slopes of the hills, give way to modern bright Pest boulevards, shrouded in the luxury of shopping centers and shops.

Budapest is located in a picturesque area. The wide Danube divides the city into two large parts. The first side is hilly Buda; it is easy to recognize it by the textured buildings of the Middle Ages. At the head are the snow-white and unusual in their form towers of the Fisherman's Bastion and the Royal Palace. On the other hand, there is modern Pest, which today has become the cultural, political and economic center of Hungary's life.

Within the boundaries of Budapest, the Danube washes the shores of seven islands that are unlike each other. The most famous of them is Margaret Island, which beckons those who like to walk among the large amount of greenery. The island has a huge botanical garden and the ruins of a Dominican church. Opposite the Margaret is the Obuda district - the oldest part of Budapest. Literally everything reminds of the past - buildings, streets, ruins of Roman amphitheaters and temples.

In the city itself, be sure to visit the UNESCO-listed Andrassy Avenue, along which such sights as the Opera House, the Academy of Music, the University of Fine Arts, and the Kodai Round Square stretch. The symbol of the capital is the Millennium Monument located on Heroes' Square.

A visit to the museums of the capital will be interesting for many. Standing out among them are the Museum of Art, Natural History Museum, History Museum, and the new Hairdressing Museum, which displays rare hairdressing tools, many old hair dryers, scissors, razors and other items.

Budapest is the only capital city in Europe that has resort status, as the city is rich in thermal springs. The climate of the capital is rather mild, moderately continental. The city is rightfully recognized as an excellent place for restoring health and good rest.
