Hungarian Parliament Building

The Parliament Building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Budapest, which looks more like a Gothic palace, striking in its architecture. There are ancient paintings on the ceilings, frescoes on the walls. After Buda and Pest merged, the construction of this largest operating residence in the world was conceived. The interiors of the building are rich and pompous. You can walk around the parliament with a guided tour, which is arranged for tourists, including in Russian.

On the territory of the castle is the Royal Palace, which contains the treasures of the National Gallery. But in 1944, during the Second World War, the building was destroyed to the ground and turned into ruins. The restoration took an incredibly long time and ended only in 1980. In 2002, the Buda Fortress was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Mount Gellert

The mountain was named so thanks to Saint Gerard. He baptized the Hungarians in this church and in 1046 he was killed in a very barbaric manner. From this very rock, they threw him into the waters of the Danube River, rolling him into a barrel studded with nails. Saint Gerard of Hungary drowned. There is still a legend that witches gathered on this very mountain and held a sabbath, hence the people sometimes say "witch's mountain".
