The Moscow region is an excellent solution for those who like to travel, but for some reason cannot go on a full-fledged vacation.

Moscow suburbs

Not far from Moscow in the southern direction there are 3 cities: Podolsk, Chekhov and Serpukhov. Each of these cities can be seen in 1 day and get a lot of impressions.

Podolsk

The road to Podolsk will take 25 minutes from the Tsaritsino railway station. First of all, it is worth seeing the Znamenskaya Church in Dubrovitsy. It was built in the Rococo style, which is rare in Russia and strikes with grace and elegance. The church was built by Italian craftsmen, who were specially ordered by Boris Golitsyn. The uniqueness of this temple is also in the fact that it is crowned not with a dome or a spire, but with a golden crown. The entrance is free.

In addition, you can visit the Ivanovskoye estate and the Podolsk Museum of Local Lore. And just take a walk along the green streets. There are many squares and parks in the city.

Chekhov

From the same station, Tsaritsyno, the road will take about an hour. There are also buses from the Yuzhnaya metro station. The city is named after the writer A. P. Chekhov. He lived there for 7 years in the Melikhovo estate. Now it is a museum-reserve. Here the famous writer not only created his literary masterpieces, but also practiced medicine, taking a huge number of patients for free. The ticket price, depending on the season, is no more than 200 rubles, preschoolers are free.

You can also visit the beautiful and airy Anno-Conception Church, which is located next to the park of culture and recreation. In addition, there is a museum-estate of the Vasilchikov estate nearby. It is also called "Pushkin's Nest". After the death of the poet, his wife Natalya Goncharova married Lanskoy, who was a friend of Vasilchikov. Therefore, Natalia's children from both marriages often visited this estate.

Not far from the railway station there is a museum of letters named after Chekhov. The poet contributed to the opening of the post office.

Serpukhov

You can get to Serpukhov from the Lesoparkovaya bus stop or the Tsaritsyno railway station. Travel time is 1.5 hours on average.

Serpukhov is rich in monasteries and temples. Vysotsky Monastery and Vvedensky Vladychny Women's Monastery, and temples are almost on every corner. There are many historical buildings: shopping arcade, Gostiny Dvor, the building of the regional council, a water tower and a house with a clock. There is a lot to see here. There is even the Kremlin. But now only the foundation has survived. In 1934, it was dismantled and sent to the construction of the Moscow Metro, but the stone was rejected, and the Kremlin was never rebuilt. Unforgettable views: river, ponds and even a waterfall. You can also visit the History and Art Museum and see fragments of the fortress wall.
