One of the most interesting avant-garde buildings in Vienna is the Hundertwasser House. The house was designed by Hundertwasser (artist) and Josef Kravin (architect). The author called his house ecological, and its appearance is amazing.

Features of the structure and design

When creating the house, the architect used all his imagination: the facade is made in the form of terraces, 13 different types and shapes of windows, as well as walls with a mosaic chaotic pattern. At the same time, the niches and walls of the house were decorated with a variety of figures, balls and statues. The columns, which are a classic element of Western and European types of architecture, were made here in different colors and shapes.

The result is a building with irregular proportions, copying the irregularities of the landscape and trees growing right in the building. All this made it possible to maximize the seclusion of man with nature.

And the building itself with such architecture made this place very attractive for foreign tourists. Cameras work here even at night, which makes the residents of the house unhappy.

Artist contribution

The artist, finished work in 1986, not only did not take money for the work, but was also able to realize all his ideas. He also showed his vision of the world and natural philosophy in another building - the House of Arts. It is located in the neighborhood and is always happy to receive tourists.

Hundertwasser noted that dull colors and sharp angles make a person sad and unhappy. And the artist was also delighted with nature, so all the buildings he worked on are strewn with flowers and flower beds. And on the roofs of many houses, he himself installed real terraces with grass and trees. The Hundertwasser House is ideal when it comes to a comfortable pastime. And it’s true - today people live here in 52 apartments.

What's interesting about the house

Unfortunately, getting inside the house is difficult because people live there. However, you can admire the interior setting. True, you have to stand in line. This is one of the big drawbacks of the building - the small area. Sometimes you can't even get to the first floor, which is filled with tourists every day. The most popular place in the house is the bar, and the poorest place for visitors is the art store. There are practically no people here.
