Sometimes tourists are faced with the problem of choosing a hotel room. The fact is that all hotels use special terms to denote a specific type of room, and it is not always easy to understand them.

Why is hotel room classification needed?

In the hotel business, there is a special classification of hotel rooms, in which information is indicated by one or more English words. For example, the characteristics of any laptop or computer can be described with a few technical phrases and special abbreviations that will not be understood by everyone. Likewise, all categories of rooms have their own universal terms for designating a particular number.

It is clear that the categories in the numbers are indicated conditionally, and, for example, the same type of number in England or Egypt can vary greatly. But the required minimum of amenities, which must correspond to a certain type of hotel room, is mandatory.

Types of rooms in hotels

A tourist who has booked a standard tour usually lives in one double room (DBL or Double). Double rooms are of two types: a room with two beds (Twin) and a room with one large bed, designed for a traveling couple (Extra Bed or King Size).

At the request of the tourist, he can be moved to a single room (Single) - in such rooms there is only one bed and they are much smaller in area than in double rooms. If a tourist is traveling with a child, he can be accommodated in a Single + Child room. In this case, a children's or an adult folding bed is installed in the room.

There are also rooms for three (Triple). Although this is an ordinary double room, where, in addition to two beds, there is also a sofa on which a third person can sleep. As a rule, families with children are accommodated in such rooms, if they order a standard room, and not a family one.

Junior Suite and De Luxe rooms (already more expensive) are one-room double rooms with an improved layout. They are larger than the standard rooms and are better furnished.

Suite (Suite) - a double comfortable room, in which, in addition to the bedroom, there is also a living room. This room is distinguished by increased comfort, high-quality equipment, furniture, etc.

The hotels also have their own VIP-rooms (or Business Rooms) - these are comfortable rooms of large sizes, which necessarily include a full set of computer and other equipment. Often these rooms have a separate meeting room, and the price of the room may include certain additional services (for example, serving coffee several times a day).

The most expensive rooms are the President Suites and King Suites. There may be 2-3 bedrooms, a study, a security room, several toilets and bathrooms. Sometimes there are rooms with a kitchen or a huge balcony, as well as two-story presidential rooms.
