Geographical location of Gelendzhik

The Kuban city is located near the foot of the western side of the Markotkh mountain range, which is located twenty-five kilometers from Novorossiysk, which is a port city of Krasnodar Territory. Gelendzhik also gave the name to the Black Sea bay, along the banks of which the famous resort of the country is located.

In turn, the region itself is located in the south of Russia and the southwest of the North Caucasus. The Krasnodar Territory is part of the Southern Federal District. This also includes the Republic of Adygea, located on the territory of the Kuban, the Rostov region, the Republic of Kalmykia and the Astrakhan region.

On land, the region borders on the Rostov Region, Stavropol Territory, Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Republic of Abkhazia, which is not recognized by all states. Also, the Krasnodar Territory has a maritime border with friendly Ukraine. The territory of the region is washed by two seas at once - the Black and Azov seas.

The time zone of Gelendzhik, like the entire Krasnodar Territory, is similar to the Moscow one, with the so-called Moscow Time Zone.

Not far from Gelendzhik are the cities of Krymsk and Abinsk, which can be reached by the A146-M25-M4 motorways. Nearby is Anapa, the path to which lies along the M25, and then M4. Travelers also love the neighboring famous resorts of Arkhipo-Osipovka, Dzhubga, Tuapse and Novomikhayloskiy, located on the M4 highway.

How to get to Gelendzhik from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar and Sochi

You can get from the capital to the city by car. The approximate travel time will be 18-20 hours, and the length of the road will be about 1500-1600 kilometers, depending on the choice of one or another route - E115, and then M4 and the Krym highway, after which you need to go to the M2 highway.

There are no train routes that go directly to Gelendzhik, but you can choose another route. For example, you can get from the Russian capital or St. Petersburg to Sochi or Krasnodar, and then change to a bus or taxi that will take you to the Black Sea resort. You can also get off at the Anapa station, from where you just need to get to Gelendzhik itself.

From more northern cities to the capital of the Region and the Olympic Sochi there are direct railway routes, as well as other trains with a final stop in Kharkov, Kiev, Minsk, Rostov-on-Don and in other cities.

Since 2010, Gelendzhik has been operating its own, albeit small, airport. Thus, tourists are relieved of the need to fly to Krasnodar or Sochi, and from there go to the desired resort.

The road from the northern capital by car will take about 30 hours if you go without long stops and breaks.
