Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh - what to choose
Most often, travelers who have not been to Egypt have a choice between Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. These cities are located on opposite coasts of the Red Sea. The peculiarity of Sharm el-Sheikh is that it is quite difficult to find hotels there with a good beach with a sandy bottom. In the part of the Red Sea where Sharm el-Sheikh is located, corals grow rapidly. Therefore, most often the bottom is covered with dead particles. You can walk on them only in special shoes - so as not to damage your legs. But on the other hand, in Sharm el-Sheikh it is warmer than in Hurghada. And there is an opportunity to observe the rich underwater world, fish and anemones living in thickets of coral.
Hurghada is famous for its sandy beaches and gentle, easy access to the sea. On the coast, there is a huge number of hotels of various levels, from very small to world famous. The only drawback of this resort is that the sea does not have such a bright color as in Sharm el-Sheikh, and also in Hurghada it is always several degrees colder. This difference is especially noticeable in winter, late autumn and early spring.
Small resort towns of Egypt - pros and cons
The downside of the lesser-known Egyptian resorts is that they don't have their own airport. That is, you will have to fly to Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh, and from there get to the selected hotel by bus. But the long journey from the airport to the hotel is perhaps the only negative factor. In all other respects - only pluses. The sea is cleaner due to the absence of large cities nearby, there is no noise from passing cars, you can enjoy the silence and unity with nature. Very often the sea near small villages has a richer underwater world than near large cities. Which is a huge plus for those who are fond of diving or snorkeling.
